Satire, I suppose…

Painted lips, and a mouth shut tight Kiss all you want, don’t pick a fight  Bask instead in the strength of man  Who would protect you? Only he can.  Why darken your brow with unholy stress? A woman with worries is an undoubted mess.   Those with opinions are far far worse  Intelligence and wit, an absolute curse.  A sheltered life in a man-built fort;  Is it truly necessary to controversy court?  The maker in His wisdom has granted us our lot.  Women’s lib is a battle, best never fought.  Cherished and protected, life is sweet When a dainty hand is placed beneath a man’s feet.  The price is small,  a tiny compromise In the absence of dignity, would security not suffice? A monthly allowance for chores around the house.... Is it so difficult to sacrifice office for your spouse?  Independence, ambition - such  petty life concerns. When did pushing files trump the tending of the ferns?  A little abuse, a littl...

Raped!

Broken, naked and desolate I walk  Barefoot and crazed and bleeding,  Legs and Toes?  Or does the blood seep through my eyes?  Those earthly threads of cotton and sweat  Enfold my skin no longer  I’ve lost my skin as I’ve lost my clothes My innocence and my faith.  The blood runs down my exposed thighs Oblivious to my sobs and cries.  Mother, why do you forsake me?  Father, why did you not let me know?  Those monsters hidden under my bed  Will someday clamber in with me They will tear my flesh and bite at my soul  Their human face more terrifying than sin. I closed my thighs like you’ve taught me to Fought with learning and confidence  But what would monsters know of education and like?  What would they know of my right to breathe?  An empty vessel to be filled with pain  Bones and limbs that I dare not call my own The glass under my feet, soon clutch at my heart.  Breaking, with my shattered, tir...

Walking away….

Darling you’ve lost  Your game is at an end  You’ve played it well  But to you,  No longer I bend.  You caused great suffering  And heartache and pain  But I’ve regained my equilibrium  While you turn further insane.  This stain will be forgotten  The wounds will fade  I’ll move on and move up  While you stay on in junior grade.  You thought to break me?  You thought I was weak?  That I would lie down to your violence That I would submit without a squeak? The tables have turned my love  The hunter turns prey  Your blue and white clouds  Will now transform to grey.  Your soul - if it ever existed  Is destined for hell Return to your cave now  Shield yourself in your  fragile shell.  Your strength turns out to be  Your one great weakness  Your talent with your fists  Your main cause for stress.  Yet I know that your machismo  Is just another fro...

Madness

Madness  Mad, am I?  A child of tears.  A soul born of darkness  And unconquered fears.  Flickering lights  Nothing substantial,  The more I seek  The more I lose.... Deceitful light  Turning copper to gold Forcing a bid  On what should never be sold.  Mad, am I?  To risk my precarious hold   On self preservation and sanity, For the greatest lie ever told.  Trust in the lights, he said Let them be your guide,  Follow the glimmers  And salvage your pride.  Mad, am I?  For I cannot see my path  The lights grow dim  And I stagger and fall... A scraped knee, And an ego bruised,  What can I ever gain? When my talent is to lose. Mad, am I?  To seek the bright  When eternal darkness  Seems my only birthright.  Clawing and dragging  Into the great void  A tiny little push....  Mad, am I ? The chasm beckons me  Seduces my soul  With the ...

Me?

I have a mind of my own, she carefully mused.  Like sirocco on dry sands, recklessly loosed. A waterfall of thoughts and opinions and feel A feast for the senses, a hearty meal.  A carnivorous mind, never sated nor bored,  A thousand imaginings enthusiastically devoured.  The world cannot defeat me, not today, not ever;  No malady, no moroseness, no absurd mental  fever.  A world builder am I, an architect of life  Shrugging off with ease, gloom and persistent strife  This perfect, impenetrable paradise - almost  A beautiful mind with a resident ghost.  A faint tug of the strings attached to the heart  Suppressing of memories, a mostly un-learnt art.  A niggling corner of doubts and fears  In a silken mind, akin to a tear.  A glass once broken may never be repaired.  Darkness persists, even as to light it is bared.  The follies of the mind to be reasoned out  Yet how do I make my heart as sto...

Ghost

Ghost  Hollowed out eyes and tired wrists  Incessant gossip and kahani main twist Hours as a spectre I hover above, Barely touching life and it’s fleshy sprouts.  Sheer curtains and half dimmed lights  Restrict my being, my very sight.  A half lived life in chase of love Betrayal and misery go hand in glove.  The screams and cries that I’d ignore  Are here with me, at my very door.  I pretend I can’t hear them, not even a squeak All guilt and remorse, the lot of the weak.  My strength allows for a lie or two, She won’t look at me the same, what can I do? Her loss I say, her petty path in life,  Let her be my indignant, my angry, bitter wife.  Her footprints don’t have to be the only ones on my sand;  I can find a thousand clones, in the market of second hand.  A piece of glass can shine like a diamond, you know? When I raise it to the light either high or low.  I can pretend I am loved, and that I am wanted beyon...

On War…

Anguish and tears And bloody smears The town of red  Less living, more dead.  Bullets of mercy  Bayonets of kindness Cleansing the ‘impure’ With death’s own caress.  Tiny limbs and wrinkled heads  Lie together on their eternal beds.  Eyes open, yet don’t see  The brutal culling  Of you and me.  Limp and lifeless,  Our fingers barely touch  To inhale life’s breath  An effort of too much.  A shower of blasts  Of noise and light  To prove one’s strength  And toast to might.  Young blood ebbs  As the old and powerful thrive  Glory be guaranteed  Whether dead or alive.  To the victor, the spoils The power and the bones  The conqueror repents not  And so the conquered must atone.  For though red is the colour of blood  Some reds are closer to the hue of mud.   These latter shades to be annihilated soon For scarlet must win over mere maroon.

My Frustrations with Indian ‘Leaders’

Nehru can you hear me?  Nehru can you hear me?  Why do they still fear thee?  Is death not the release we all think it to be? A minister of prime though you certainly were , Best known for your dalliance with a specific ‘her’ Today reduced to a mere mercenary monster?  A famous figure with foe and fan  You had most virtues (and failings) of a man.  Why do they now ask what you did and still can?  Half a century has past since you’ve been gone.  Why do they now recount your battles lost and won?  Is this country to reel under your everlasting con?  Your legacy they pick apart every single day; Your erroneous policies and flamboyant ways.  The economy, the pandemic- are your failings, okay?  A few decades later and we have a fearless leader,  Of iron will and ‘entire political science’ reader. A true hero of saffron and nationalism seeder.  Yet doomed is he, all thanks to you  His cabinet and charisma proven ...

Winter Love (this one was inspired by a Russian movie called ‘Silver Skates’).

White and soft and light as a feather  Warmth and hope in cold, cold weather.  Ice blues and steel greys outside today  Behold the sparkling silver before it fades away…  A winter wonderland of snow and love  Romance to be found at the slip of a glove  Pale wrists, red lips, dark wild hair Limbs wrapped in fur, the ‘serdtse’ laid bare.  The follies of power, absolute it is not Never can it reach the heights it has sought  The fire of the heart, too compellingly felt  The coldest, cruelest mind, it will rapidly melt.  Not war, not famine, not your brutal face  Can diminish the allure of sensual lace  You fight with the cold in your soul every day The neve doesn’t touch me, no matter what you say.  Yield to me, melt to me, thaw yourself out  Make yourself vulnerable to my pretty pout  What good is your ice, your deep deep sorrow  When you can have your desire, why beg and borrow? Put down your weapons an...

Hades’ Lament (when you’re a fan of Greek myth romances)

Hades’ lament  Persephone, O maiden fair,  Turn to me and show me you care  The lord of death, though I am  My immortal power is only a sham.  Corpses I rule, and corpulent beasts,  My table overflows with inedible feasts,  Muddy waters and waves of the Styx, Despair beyond what I can fix.  So come to me bride, accept my offer, Take this pomegranate and fill my heart’s coffers.  Darkness I command, as I would your heart The absence of you, daily tears me apart.  Spring and summer, the seasons of sadness,  The sun sets too slowly and I descend into madness.  You did not forsake me, return to me my dove  A rape so gentle, was only a token of my love.  I had to have you, hell’s throne beckoned.  You were always my first and no place for a second.  Everlasting though I am, of Father Cronos born,  I have no strength left, when your love from me is shorn.  Autumn and winter, make haste for your mas...
