Winter Love (this one was inspired by a Russian movie called ‘Silver Skates’).

White and soft and light as a feather

Warmth and hope in cold, cold weather.

Ice blues and steel greys outside today

Behold the sparkling silver before it fades away…

A winter wonderland of snow and love

Romance to be found at the slip of a glove

Pale wrists, red lips, dark wild hair

Limbs wrapped in fur, the ‘serdtse’ laid bare.

The follies of power, absolute it is not

Never can it reach the heights it has sought

The fire of the heart, too compellingly felt

The coldest, cruelest mind, it will rapidly melt.

Not war, not famine, not your brutal face

Can diminish the allure of sensual lace

You fight with the cold in your soul every day

The neve doesn’t touch me, no matter what you say.

Yield to me, melt to me, thaw yourself out

Make yourself vulnerable to my pretty pout

What good is your ice, your deep deep sorrow

When you can have your desire, why beg and borrow?

Put down your weapons and away with your shield.

Allow me in and you’ll find yourself healed.

I am all pervading, all encompassing -  a veritable thief

I’ll replace with affection, your self flaying grief.

Love you know, is a balm to every ill

The very air that every vaccum does fill

Lie with me, rest your limbs on my bed

These arms will enfold you until your last tear is shed.

*serdtse: Russian word for heart
