To the "Other Woman"

Was that a smile?

Directed at him,

Did you bat your eyelashes

Try to Enslave him to your whim?

Did you know that he belonged,

To someone else?

That he gave his heart away

Before he offered you its empty shell?

That every sweet word he now coos to you

Was said many times before,

To another who had his soul and life

Who claimed him for her own, his wife?

He promised her an eternity

While he promises you sleaze

He worshipped and seduced her

While he wins you over with a ‘please’.

A second fiddle or supporting cast,

Is that what you’ve resigned yourself to be?

What do you see when you look at the mirror?

A being less important than glorious he?

The tragic wife drowning in all her woes,

A distant figure to you, not really a foe

Why should you care for her abject misery?

Unless someday, you become that miserable she…

Once a cheater and forever so,

Infidelity adds to his charm and glow…

But what of you; O’ fallen one?

Who exchanges her morals for a spot of fun?

Do you get away unscathed and whole?

Do you never repent for the love you stole?

Kisses and moments never meant for you

A bond built on falsities and nothing true.

What would you know of Real affection?

The type of love that doesn’t force you to hide…

Instead bow your head in shame, scramble to conceal

Something that doesn’t allow for much pride…
